John Macdonald, President and Chief Executive Officer
John Macdonald was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund (the “Fund”) in November 2006. Prior to joining the Fund Mr. Macdonald was President and Chief Executive officer of Hydro One Telecom Inc., and grew the company from a concept to the largest utility-based telecom company in Canada. Prior to this, Mr. Macdonald was President of ShareTel and has also held senior marketing positions at AT&T Canada and Nortel.
John is a registered professional engineer with a B.A. Sc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Steve Bower, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Bower was appointed CFO of the Fund in December 2007. Prior to joining the Fund he was the CFO at Wi-LAN Inc and SiGe Semiconductor Inc. He is a member of the board and chair of the audit committee of Enablence Technologies Inc. Mr. Bower was elected a fellow (FCA) by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario in 2006. Mr. Bower holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University.
John Toffoletto, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Toffoletto was appointed Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for The Consumers’ Waterheater Income Fund and each of its subsidiaries in January 2009. Prior joining Stratacon Mr. Toffoletto worked at one of Canada’s preeminent corporate law firms, Torys LLP, where he played a significant role in the Fund’s formation in 2002 and its subsequent legal affairs, including financings, acquisitions and commercial arrangements. Mr. Toffoletto has also acted for some of Canada's leading public companies, pension funds and financial institutions.
John has a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree (with High Distinction) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (with Honours) from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto.
Tom Cooper, Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Mr. Cooper was appointed Vice President, Sales and Marketing of the Fund and each of its subsidiaries in June 2009. Mr. Cooper has over 25 years of experience in the HVAC and energy services industry, having held senior operating positions at DE, Enbridge Services Inc. and The Consumers’ Gas Company Ltd. From 2006 to 2009, he ran a consulting practice focused on business improvement strategies. Mr. Cooper has a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree with a Specialist Designation in Economics from the University of Toronto and holds a C.E.T. designation from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technician sand Technologists (O.A.C.E.T.T.).
Craig McCandless, Chief Operating Officer - Stratacon
Mr. McCandless was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Stratacon in March 2009. Mr. McCandless has over 15 years of utility and sub-metering industry experience. Prior to joining Stratacon, Mr. McCandless held senior operating positions at ista North America and helped grow that company to become the largest U.S. sub-metering provider servicing nearly one million multi-family and commercial units. Mr. McCandless has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of South Florida and received his MBA from University of North Florida.
Peter R.J. Mills, Co-Founder and Managing Director - Stratacon
Mr. Mills was appointed Co-founder and Managing Director of Stratacon in August 2008. Prior to such appointment, he was the Co-Chief Executive Officer from 2006 and the Chief Operating Officer from 2002. Mr. Mills has over 20 years of experience designing and implementing some of Canada's largest multi-residential and commercial utility management projects. Prior to entering the private sector Mr. Mills spent ten years with Ontario Hydro where he developed, negotiated and implemented a wide variety of energy management projects. Mr. Mills provides utility insight to the Federation of Rental Housing Providers of Ontario, the Canadian Condominium Institute as well as provincial and municipal governments.
Ian D. Stewart, Co-Founder and Managing Director - Stratacon
Mr. Stewart has been a prominent leader in the commercial utility and water management profession. He has been responsible for the initiation, design, sale and implementation of some of Canada's largest and most successful multi-residential and commercial utility management projects. He has been personally responsible for projects representing over 95,000 multi-residential suites, along with hundreds of Schools, Hospitals and Universities. Ian has lectured extensively to BOMA, CAESCO, UDI, FRPO, GTAA and other organizations with regards to utility and water management initiatives. Ian's business acumen, strong technical capabilities and sound financial skills ensure that all projects are structured using the most appropriate financial vehicles available to both Stratacon and the customer.
