Water Metering
The cost to supply water in many parts of Canada has risen more than 10% in the last 2 years. Aside from updating fixtures such as toilets and faucets to ensure as little water as possible is consumed, the only other path to reducing consumption is to change resident’s personal habits.
Stratacon offers a variety of water metering technologies that work with the infrastructure used for electricity sub-metering, or work on their own.
* Water meters collect consumption data and utilizing RF (radio frequency) technology, communicate with a central data collector
* Consumption data is then transmitted from the central data collector to Stratacon’s data center for storage, processing, and billing.
Stratacon can provide solutions for both hot and cold water metering.
Hot water metering:
* allows you to recover the cost of the water plus the cost for the energy required to heat it
* recover energy costs, regardless of the heat source, including natural gas, electricity, ground source geothermal, solar and other emerging water heating technologies.
Stratacon’s multi-utility billing platform allows us to customize the billable rate, ensuring commodity and energy costs are accurately passed on to your residents. This offers the property owner the flexibility to pursue a variety of water heating solutions, without investing in new metering technology.
With water rates continually on the rise, having the tools in place to monitor and bill water consumption in multi-unit buildings will be essential to controlling operating costs now, and in the future. Like all user-pay models, once residents see their consumption and are responsible for the cost, they tend to use less.
